Our Final Leg to Martinique

05-06Jun26 Guadeloupe, Dominica, and Southbound.

The final stretch South became an education and a comfort in island weather. Winds have shadows. Winds have corridors. Acceleration zones. Mountain effects. One minute you're flying through the sea like a laser. The next you're motoring because all the wind is gone. The sails were luffing. The Caribbean islands create their own weather patterns and every island has its own personality. The trick is figure out what mood it's in and how to adjust. By now I was paying less attention to the destination and more attention to the process. Not so much where we were going. Yet, how I was gonna get us there. How Captain Babe and I we're gonna get Patience there. Something changed in us in this passage. I could see it both in Captain Babe and myself. We were no longer trying to force a voyage we were learning to work within the voyage. We were cutting our teeth as sailors, as a team, as a couple.

We were learning to work together and make Patience our home.

06Jun26 Martinique

Just before dawn, Martinique appeared on the horizon. We had a hundred more miles than we needed. We added countless more tracks than we. We ran over buoys, ropes, We made repairs, we troubleshot electrical systems, And we learned to navigate better than we ever have before. After questioning nearly all of our life decisions we were in Martinique. The funny thing about arriving after a difficult passage is that the destination almost becomes secondary. What mattered most is who you become between the arrival and the departure.

Now for a lot of old sailors, it becomes old hat. Still, for us, we're new sailors. This is our new adventure and we're doing it ourselves. We left the Virgin Islands thinking we'd be just sailing to Martinique. In reality we were sailing towards an experience. Martinique was simply where the lesson ended for that chapter. Because aboard "Patience" The next lesson is just beyond the horizon.

Checking into a E'Tang Z' Apricot was easier than expected. It is a cute little Marina Everything you need is locally around. You may rent a car for about Thirty euros a day. There's a lot to do on the island or if you like us after exploring everything. You just wanna chill, you can. In a few days we move the boat over to Marin. Where we'll get some work done on her the final bit of work and then we're off to Grenada, Then back to the states for medicine and then back to Grenada first season
